To alleviate year-end liquidity pressures, the Federal Reserve has begun the process of injecting $6.8 billion dollars into the economy. This cash infusion, done through Repurchase Agreements (Repos), will be the first such liquidity infusion since 2020.
Furthermore, the move is occurring, in the first instance, during a time period in which liquidity is historically expected. Though the Fed has kept a generally restrictive policy stance for the past year, these recent cash injections into the economy has been interpreted as a bullish signal for the crypto market.
How is the Crypto market predicted to react to the $6.8B Injection?
As per a recent tweet by Barcharts, the U. S. central bank will be infusing 6.8 billion dollars, into the economy on December 22, 2025. Over the past ten days, the Fed has injected a total of 38 billion dollars into the economy in cash to alleviate some of the year-end liquidity pressures.
Although these cash infusions are described as ‘usual,’ in the world of cryptocurrency, these cash infusions are interpreted as an economy on the verge of a bull (or growth) run.
As a matter of record, increased liquidity tends to create positive surroundings for risk assets, with cryptocurrencies included. More cash in the market increases the ability to fund projects, alleviates the pressure and gives room to speculate, thus assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and various altcoins tend to rise.
Crypto analyst Money Ape put it very well on X, stating that, “the addition of cash into the system allows for easier funding, less stressed atmosphere, and improved circumstances for risk assets like BTC & crypto.” Also, analyst Rekt Fencer pointed out that such additions have a historical correlation with valuable price increases of digital assets.

Fed Ends QT and Shifts to Repo Operations
The Fed ended QT operations on December 1 of 2025. QT impacts the Fed’s balance sheet. Repo operations do not. Under Repo, the Fed lends to banks and takes Treasuries as collateral. Banks are expected to pay back the loans quickly. ImNotTheWolf said, “QT reduces liquidity permanently, whereas Repo alleviates market stress.”
The $6.8 billion cash injection was just after the Fed’s most recent interest rate cut of 25 basis points to 3.5%-3.75%. This was 2025’s third rate cut and coincided with interest rate reductions aimed at smoothing conditions in the crypto market.
The Fed has come under fire for its restrictive stance on crypto, and its recent policies have introduced a more positively inclined stance regarding digital assets. The Fed’s recent policy moves provide a more friendly environment for the crypto market.
The combination of rate cuts and liquidity injections provide the environment for the crypto market to move away from the trends which led to the previous downtrend. This will likely lead to a major rally in the crypto market as traders and investors look to take more risks.
The Federal Reserve’s most recent repos ($6.8 billion) will serve an invaluable liquidity function that will likely affect *crypto prices positively, especially that of Bitcoin and the rest of the crypto world towards the end of 2025.
