Crypto Market Rises Despite Security Concerns
The overall market capitalization increased by 0.97% to reach approximately $2.17 trillion on August 4. The crypto market showed resilience even with the Bitcoin Coldcard security exploit. Although there was no confidence in the digital assets, it was observed that investors were buying other cryptos. The price of Bitcoin, the largest crypto by market value, recorded an increase of 1.86% to trade at $63,698.
The market was positive partly due to increased buying and trading, and good sentiment among investors. Cardano (ADA) and Hyperliquid (HYPE) were notable altcoins due to gains made even beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Coldcard Hack Impacts Thousands of Bitcoin Addresses
Due to the hack exploits in the Coldcard hardware wallet, about 4,500 Bitcoin addresses were affected. According to Grayscale analyst Alex Thorn, it is believed that over $100 million worth of Bitcoin were stolen by hackers.
Usually, large-scale crypto hacks result in selling pressure since hackers sell the crypto on an exchange. This action has a supply effect on the market and a negative impact on price. However, the security breach did not impact the overall price of Bitcoin, which is a noted unusual occurrence.
The strength in BTC has been attributed to a growing focus on other positive economic drivers. Market participants have indicated a stronger focus on adoption, demand, and overall economic analysis rather than security exploits.
Bitcoin Holds Strong Amidst Bearish Trends
On August 4, reports indicated that Bitcoin was continuing to increase in value as a result of purchasing pressure and soft sentiment in the market. Data showed that, on this day, Bitcoin purchases increased by 43%, demonstrating a rise in trading interest.
Stabilizing purchasing interest was demonstrated by the presence of institutions as evidenced by the growth of institutional purchases of Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). SoSoValue estimated that on August 3, such funds experienced inflows of approximately $170 million.
Market bullishness further increased with the apparent easing of tensions between the United States and Iran. Investors predict that less geopolitical conflicts will stimulate a more positive outlook for investors and prompt an increased flow of funds into the cryptocurrency markets.

Bitcoin Bullish: What’s Next?
Bitcoin is currently challenging the support of the 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) priced at $63,311. On a bullish note, the clearance of this support would place the bulls in control, and allow the price to advance to the 100-day SMA at $68,500.
Bulls should be cautious, though, as many technical indicators show that a larger bearish trend may be underneath the current bullish move. For example, the MACD remains bearish and therefore, a clear loss of the 50-day SMA support at $63,311 has the potential to spark a sell-off taking price to the lower support zone of $60,000.
If bullish market pressure is maintained, the price is expected to test the $68,500 resistance level in the near-term.
Cardano Leads Altcoin Market Gains
On August 4, Cardano (ADA) was among the highest-performing altcoins with gains of 4.43% to around $0.19. Trade volume for ADA increased significantly by 33% to approximately $729 million as per data from CoinMarketCap.
Market analytics platform Santiment revealed that, despite a challenging and volatile altcoin market environment, Cardano has shown strength. The recent recovery for ADA was after it hit an all-time low of $0.138 on June 25. This presented a good opportunity for traders to buy since many traders believe that price bottoms are the best opportunities to buy.
Santiment also revealed that the holder count for ADA decreased by roughly 7,070. This means that some of the traders who sold ADA during the downtrend in June have not returned to buy.
Hyperliquid Gains Momentum Among Altcoins
On August 4, in addition to Cardano, another major altcoin performer was Hyperliquid (HYPE). Cardano and Hyperliquid likely performed well due to the revived interest in decentralized finance (DeFi) and an increase in market activity.
While traders are seeking opportunities for higher returns, blockchain-based projects that are innovative are gaining popularity. The performance of Hyperliquid signifies how the market is improving for altcoins.
Crypto Market Outlook: Recovery Continues With Caution
On August 4, the crypto market demonstrated that it is becoming better at managing market events negatively as it maintained a positive outlook. Individuals were still bullish on Bitcoin, and ETF inflows and increased trading volume combined with the hack of a Bitcoin hardware wallet called Coldcard, indicated that there was still buying pressure and high demand from institutions and retail.
We are seeing altcoins being bought, including Cardano and Hyperliquid. Investors have become interested after a long period of volatility. The risks have not vanished, and in particular for Bitcoin, traders will need to consider the key support and resistance levels.
If bullish momentum continues, the market could see another rally in the days to come. Investors are, however, nervous, as there are still potential security risks, market technicals, and a lot of market uncertainty.
